Prayer Ministry

“My House will be called a House of Prayer for all Nations”

– Isaiah 56:7

Under the leadership and power of the Holy Spirit, Prayer Minister Rozanna Porter assists the congregation of New Beginnings in making this commission a reality.

“Seeing prayers answered is my favorite part of being a prayer minister.  For as many times as I’ve seen God answer, I still continue to be amazed at what He does!  My goal is to look for and provide more and more opportunities for prayer to take place.  I know people are praying on their own, but I want to see it in action, to witness it taking place, and to have all of our ministry leaders be leaders of prayer by example, until we are truly looking and sounding like a House of Prayer!  My prayer is for a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to blow through New Beginnings Alliance Church and ignite Christ followers to reflect Jesus more consistently, passionately, and actively.”

Sunday Morning Prayer

Every Sunday morning at 9:20 a.m., ministry leaders, pastors and other participants gather in our Lucille Badger Prayer Room and Elder Gary Herrmann leads us in prayer over our morning worship service.  It is a time where we humble our hearts before God, ready our spirits for His Word, and invite God’s powerful covering over

  • Our Pastor and Associate Pastor
  • The Preaching of the Word
  • The Praise and Worship Team
  • Prayer Leaders
  • Congregational Testimonies
  • Discipleship Classes and Teachers
  • Our Brothers and Sisters of Victory Hmong and their afternoon service

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Sunday Service Prayer Leaders

If you can talk to God, you can lead prayer!

As many different people as there are in God’s family, that’s how many different ways and styles of prayer you will hear throughout the year at New Beginnings.  Any and all are invited to lead the congregation in a Scripture-led prayer of God’s choosing.  Even our youth and children join with their Sunday School teachers to prepare and lead prayers on the second Sunday of each month.

If you are interested in rallying the Church to pray for an issue that is burdening or inspiring you, please email Rozanna Porter at and schedule a Sunday to lead.

Sunday Prayer Counselors

When God’s Word goes forth during a Sunday service, we expect and prepare for hearts to RESPOND!  After the altar invitation and benediction blessing are spoken, prayer counselors will station themselves along the front of the church to partner with you in…

  • … praying to receive the gift of salvation and become a Child of God
  • … answering questions you may have about something you heard in the message
  • … praying for and with you about a personal request you may have
  • … hearing your commitment to join the fellowship of New Beginnings
  • … asking an elder/pastor to anoint you with oil and pray for healing

If you desire more privacy, please request to be led to the prayer room. Please note that the door may be left ajar or another counselor may be asked to join you to ensure the safety and integrity of all.

Confidential Prayer Chain

Prayer intercessors who have completed an application and been approved by the pastor stand at the ready to serve the body by receiving and lifting up confidential prayer requests.  Your request can be made via email by contacting Rozanna Porter at

January – Month of Corporate Prayer & Fasting

Come and see what the Power of God, unleashed through prayer, can do for you, your loved ones, your community, and the world!

We begin with a time of quiet meditation and instrumental music before sharing of personal, local, and international requests. We then enter into an extended time of petitioning and interceding aloud on our knees (or seated, as necessary).  Once a month, our time of prayer includes a prayer walk.

Every January, we join together in united purpose around a selected book or created booklet, fasting and praying for the upcoming year.

One congregant summed it up by saying, “It’s the most dreaded, anticipated, and welcomed month of all!”, referring to the simultaneous struggle with laying down our personal comforts to build our spiritual discipline and witnessing the unleashing of God’s power to change circumstances, attitudes and lives!

Seek God for the City

National Day of Prayer

Every year during the Lenten season, we use the Seek God for the City prayer guide.

“Seek God for the City helps you to mobilize many to pray with united, sustained vision for people of your community. The prayers in this prayer guide are biblically grounded and easy to pray.”

The prayer guides are made available at New Beginnings for a suggested donation of $2 each (to help offset our ordering price).  Some members have found it very useful to download the prayer guide in app format for iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets, available for just 99 cents.

Please visit  for more information.

The first Thursday in May is dedicated to prayer in and for our nation.  The National Day of Prayer exists to mobilize unified public prayer for America.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to  communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.
